    Weight loss during menopause

Weight loss during menopause! This is supposed to be all about my wedding. Who knew weight loss would become such a huge topic! I have heard from people wanting to learn what I was doing and so, I will start to share that more. As of today, I am 30 pounds down from my high of 164. At 5’5 that was not a good weight. I am 53. I have been health conscious my entire adult life. I started gaining weight in my 40s on and off. It became difficult to manage it and at one point I gave up, only to skyrocket up to the mid 160s a couple…

    Wedding Update

Here is my wedding update! My man and I have been checking the boxes with wedding stuff being accomplished. After a ton of contemplation, my guy decided he wanted the ceremony videotaped. And so, he hired a videographer. What else?  I picked my dress and gave my bridesmaids color and brand to choose from for their dresses. Woot woot! Getting closer! Went shopping with my fiance a few days ago, so he could look at what he wants to wear and we have it narrowed down, plus he found some new clothes in the process. All good. We have a caterer who is going to make amazing pizzas and is…

    Weight Loss, Health and Happiness

Weight Loss, Health, and happiness; go together in my book. I took time off from writing this blog. There was quite a bit going on with those three things not to mention the wedding planning too. At this point, I have lost 25 pounds since the end of April. At the beginning of May, I decided I did not want to have fear around my health. I am usually hypersensitive to it when I am under stress. I tend to think many aches and pains that are new must be some health disaster. And so, as I have been in the practice of growing myself, I decided I wanted to deal…

Weight Loss For This Middle-Aged Mama!

Weight Loss For This Middle-Aged Mama! It is definitely happening. A 12-pound weight loss for this mama to be exact! I stepped on the scale almost two weeks ago. And I knew it was gonna be high, but not as high as it was! YIKES! I thought I had wanted to drop 20 pounds for the wedding, but it may be more like 25 or 30? We will see what it looks like as the weight comes off. I am a bit nervous, as I try to stay in the moment and not get ahead of myself. This elimination diet to figure out the “foods” impacting my hormones or whatever at this…

    Catering Panic?

We are not in catering panic. Yet. Catering panic will set in when me the Libra and him the Pisces do not decide who to go with! I feel it has moved into a lifetime project, could swear we have been working on it since I was two and he was four. Well, okay, not really! We started off wanting Indian food and decided to change it to having freshly baked pizzas on site. There are so many cute ideas as I spoke about in a previous blog post. Anyways, trying to wrangle one caterer, and not having too great communication meant I needed to pick back up with the…

    Wedding Planning With Ease?

Wedding Planning With Ease? That is funny and so far, wedding planning with ease is, uh, a big question? An obvious challenge to letting go. We are watching certain aspects of the planning go smoothly and other parts turn into a hairball. The catering swims to the top of that heap. What do we choose? Pizza was sounding like the “thing” to do. Having this really cute 1940s style truck pull up and make pizzas!! YES, PLEASE! But, they were booked. And so, we have certain caterers we are talking to and they will need to rent a portable pizza oven. Can we just call Dominoes? (not really) Looking at this…

Loving Losing Weight For More Than My Wedding

Loving Losing Weight! Who loves losing weight, by dieting, ever? Funny question. But in the midst of wanting to have a semblance of the body I had for a good part of my life, it seems worth answering. I used to diet when I was younger with stringency. It came from self-hatred. Why wouldn’t my body cooperate? It was a diet of rice cakes and diet coke. I then would move onto other stringent diets. What’s crazy is I was not fat! I weighed 120 lbs and thought I was fat. I was weight delusional. I did not like myself and the frustration showed up on my physicality. What does…

Losing Weight Day One for My Health

Losing Weight! Not another diet! I have been on the road of self-awareness for a long time. Along the ay, I stopped torturing myself with dieting in the traditional sense. I had dieted for years and exercised to an extreme in the past. As I went on this awareness trip, I found myself in the middle of peri-menopause. The past handful of years were tough when it came to how my body looked, metabolized food (as in I had a metabolism) and felt. I also became aware in my 50s that two of my grandmothers had heart issues. My dad had a 5-way bypass 22 years ago at 59. Uh,…

It Is Meant To Be or Something Like That

Yup. Whatever, it is meant to be it will be. It’s how I feel. Everything really does work out how it is meant to be. In preparing for a wedding, especially one where you have a chosen venue–it can become stressful. Stressful, if you let it. I had made a decision. A while back I decided “hyperventilating” was not part of getting, “everything and everyone booked.”                 Not sure if I am the smart “bride” or the bride who believes everything will just work itself out! I keep feeling myself open up, more and more to the possibilities. Allowing it to be whatever amazing…

    Photography, does it matter?

Photography. Does it matter? Yes photography does, but do you need a 20,000 package or can you get one for a few thousand dollars? Or can you get good photography for a few hundred dollars?                     These three photos are from three different photographers from 1500.00 to 20,000.00; can you tell the difference? If you can and this is your second or third time around the ring, what is comfortable for you to spend? We want a fun and meaningful day, period. It means quality, but we have no interest in going over the top for some of the “wedding items.”…
